Hi,

I am a 48 year old fitness instructor from London, and I am always encouraging people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, no matter what their age. As someone who is now past middle age myself, I believe that the benefits of my lifestyle are living proof that it actually works. Please see the testimonials from my over 50's fitness class at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8ZTe7Q7RAc

I have just launched a free training video that anyone can do in their home or local park, and it can be adjusted to suit their own level of fitness or mobility.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a7QnjS3SWo

There is also a less challenging version for people who have reduced mobility called the 'Sleeping Tiger'. I think your readers might be interested in a simple keep fit program that they can do at home or with friends. If this is the case then please let me know and I will send you a link to the ‘Sleeping Tiger’ fitness program, free of charge.

Thank you

Great list! I agree with Chris about keeping an active social life. I find that my friendships are extremely important to me.

Having strong relationships and an active social life is crucial staying young. I many of the bitter old people I encounter are often by themselves and complain about being old. Some aren't even that old, like in their 50's and 60's.

Having a dog is a great way to stay active. I just got a dog over the summer and he doesn't let me sit on my ass all day without giving him walks.

I'm only 30, but I'm starting to feel a bit older as well. On the mental side, I stay pretty sharp by reading a lot and writing even more. I have let the physical fitness aspects slide a bit the past two months, but I am getting a Wii Fit for Christmas!

I love your other suggestions for areas we don't often consider...laughter, gratitude, teach others. Great stuff!

What a powerful list. You could do individual postings for each of them. I do the healthful eating and exercise. Sometimes I am at a loss to implement the rest. On a side note, as I am trying to implement some new habits (positive ones), I am finding it easier TO NOT DO something bad than To DO something positive, i.e. I don't waste time playing solitaire on the computer, and have given up that well entrenched activity which had gotten out of control. However, I have problems with doing something positive such as doing one hour of Spanish each day (I am trying to learn Spanish.) Why might that be?
