I am sure the macbook is good product but I dont like the look or feel or the vulnerability from liquid spills and the sharp edge where your wrists rest, I dont like the cheap feel of the keyboard and the single mouse button and I dont like all the magnets in the case for the lid latch and the power lead. But at the point of actually rendering your video, you find out what kinda crap hardware you actually get with it. I was working on a home movie a bit ago. Just a little thing for me to keep memory of. First problem i ran into was the HDD size. 250 GB just isn't enough to cut it. External HDD is needed... iMovie is crap. It actually wouldn't work. It worked great on short videos but for a long one it crashed. Nothing is built for a actual power user. My video was about an hour and 10 minutes. After the 5th time trying to complete using iMovie, it actually started working... though it took almost a full day thanks to it's cruddy graphics and slow processor that will cost you over 1200$. Truth is, in the end, i'm still a PC user. If i want a mac, ill just make a hackintosh. OSX is a Unix system, which i believe, should be open to all hardware. The only plus side on owning one is everyone will love you (Shallow people in this world, eh?). My DV6z gets nothing. I don't get the hype about a mac, or any apple product for that matter. I really have nothing positive to say for OSX and Apple except it looks nice, but that's about it. Truth is, like a few people said, if your not a moron who installs everything you will get along with windows just fine. Thats just my 2 cents. Adios and good luck. One more thing to point out: If anything on a mac or the mac itself crashes, there is rarely an error code (only certain apps) which means when you have a problem, your in deep shit. The same applies the other way around. If you're woefully incompetent in both, Mac OS might seem easier because Macs always had built-in "training wheels" to hide all the low-level options from you. But Microsoft has gotten smarter about that lately, in Windows 7 for example it's much harder to mess up the system thanks to Mac-like training wheels to protect beginners from themselves. If you like customizing your computer, then you're not going to be happy with a Mac. You don't see Mac case modding, there are no extreme over-clocking for Mac, there isn't water cooling for Mac, there is no custom hardware, you can't put a Intel Core i7 Extreme etc. With Mac what Apple gives you is what you use. That's just perfect for people who are happy letting someone else make decisions for them, but if you're a free spirit you might find it annoying. The only customization you can make to your Mac is putting stickers on it or changing the wallpaper and other trivial stuff. Big deal, Windows 7 has created a SUPER BAR at the bottom of screen and you can pin any app or program to it and it looks great and is easy to access. I am a PC master Tech and love windows 7 64 Bit Pro. I have my Pc set up with win 7 64 pro, and I use Google Chrome 950.099 Version for browsing and so on... To me there is nothing better? My Pc has never crashed using Chrome. My son's Mac Book Pro crashed so we went in TIME MACHINE to look for restore and there was not any restore point set. I got back up and running then tried to install a WI/FI printer and it could not do that either. So I pluged in a USB (had to unplug air card) cable and Snow Lep OS could not find it ? Mac's are a waste of money in my opinion. Yes some of the Apps are great and may be better than some windows apps but Apple is smart enough to write software that will work with windows 7 as well. I say keep what you have, install Win 7 Pro, and Google Chrome, and search software Trials that many companies offer today to find video editing software that will meet your needs.
