From there, we just paid ourselves the car payment we would have been paying if we would have bought sooner. It is amazing how fast the savings accumulates. We bought a Honda Civic and we try to take good care of it, so we are really hoping it will last us 10 years or more. We will start saving again for our next car purchase in about 3 years. We'll start small with our savings and grow them as we reduce our student loan debt. That's our plan.
