Links for Super-Charged Living - Jan 26, 2008

You can live a super-charged life and I am committed to helping you do so. Here is a roll-up of some great articles to assist in your journey. Click on a couple that catch your eye to help you get motivated.

  1. Emotional maturity is a part of living a life of excellence. One has to develop emotional maturity and this is an area where we can all strive to continually improve. Dumb Little Man writes about 3 Ways to Embody Emotional Maturity. I especially like the tips on relating well with others. We all depend on others in our life whether we like to admit it or not. The first step to making the most of our relationships is to work on ourselves.
  2. Becoming debt-free is financially wise. How can we expect to build wealth when we so often spend more than we make and borrow the rest? J.D. at Get Rich Slowly wrote this week, What are Debt Snowballs Made Of? Debt Snowflakes! This article offers excellent advice on how to pay off your debt. It is all about intensity!
  3. As leaders we have to trust and empower others to do their jobs. At Leadership Turn, the article What leaders DO: cut through the BS describes a great example of this. At media giant Tribune, they have thrown out the legalistic employee handbook and moved to one full of commonsense that reflects the new culture the company is hoping to create.
  4. Learning a new skill or habit is a sure-fire step towards a better life. Scott H. Young writes about Keeping To-Learn Lists. To stay on track, Scott suggests keeping a prioritized list of things you want to learn. This technique is similar to a to-do list. I use a great software tool for this called EverNote. We are all exposed to more information than we can easily keep track of on a daily basis. EverNote is the winner in How Not to Drown in Info: EverNote.
  5. Adventure is the spice of life! At 4EvaYoung, Tezza writes about 5 Things I’ve Learnt Being 4584 Miles From Home. She recently started a world trip from her home in Austrailia with her first stop being in Hong Kong. I hope to someday embark on something so bold! I also love Tezza’s list of Life Goals.

  1. Great list, Jeff, and very well thought out.

One thing I’d add to the emotional maturity section is the ability to deal with disappointment. How you handle things when the world seems against you say a lot about your maturity level.

Thanks and keep up the good work!
