Just a Reminder: It isn’t all about the economy!
We have a lot to be grateful for despite what is going on in the economy.
I was reminded of this Friday morning. I visited my daughter’s public elementary school for “Donuts with Dad”. She has a fantastic little school that she attends. As I was leaving, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride in my community and country.
I am very grateful that I live in a country where we value our children and try to give them every opportunity to succeed. We build them great schools and provide them with innumerable opportunities to grow, learn, and explore. We make a lot of mistakes, but we also do some things right.
Be grateful! We will recover from this crisis.
I challenge you to take a moment this weekend and reflect on what you do have instead of what you don’t.
There has been a lot of negative news lately and it is easy to get brought down by it all. There has certainly been more than enough sensationalism spewing forth from the politicians and the media. It is important to remember all the peace, security, prosperity, love, and opportunity that we enjoy!

Donuts for Dad sounds great. It’s nice that you could spend time with your daughter like that. The economy is a bit screwy now but a lot of what will fix it starts on the smaller level with the people. Our core values need to be aligned with proper economic goals. We need to be happy with what we have and not leverage ourselves to the point of bankruptcy.

@FFB – I agree that a lot of what brought on this crisis is a total lack of personal responsibility. In some ways, I wonder if a recession would be good for this country. It might teach people to be more conservative with their finances.
Thanks for the comment and congrats on the one-year anniversary of your blog!
Thanks for the great links! I am so grateful to be just starting out on my financial journey at age 21. I have no debt… and hardly any savings. I am not in the negative, but also have nothing to lose. Well, I guess there some things I should be worrying about with the economy right now, but not nearly as much as others who have thousands or millions on the line.

I agree Jeff. The economy is a part of our life, but we are so much more than that. Your story about donuts with dad sounds so sweet!

It’s not all about the economy is a great line. It’s not all about this election either!

@Ron – You are right. It seems the economy and the election are all we are hearing about these days.
Didn’t they have a little hurricane down in Houston and Galveston? Whatever happened to those people? You don’t seem to hear about it much on the news.
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
