I couldn't agree more. Long term planning is planning, and anything that is planned is more likely to succeed than something that you just do as you go along. There are exceptions of course, but in general planning is best. It's not possible to plan out everything down to the details but thinking about the future encourages responsibility.

There was a period of time in my life when I had a difficult time making long-term plans. It wasn't that I was unwilling to delay gratification, I just honestly hit a wall where I didn't feel like I had much to look forward to in the future. It was a dark time in my life. However, I can attest to the power of long-term planning. It gives me hope, goals, vision and drive. I have so many things I want to do now that I'm worried I won't have the time to get them all done. For me, it took life experience to understand the importance of long-term planning. I guess others pick up on the significance faster than I did. but now that's I've got it, I've really got it and life is exciting.

I couldn't agree more! When I signed up for a 5 year University program, everyone thought I was nuts. Five years is a long time, but it was well worth it. I got to do so many things I wouldn't have had the chance to do with a 3 year program.

Great advice for all ages!
