This is great Jeff.

I think I will try this technique on 1 new task I hate a week and ease into it.

I like the idea of tracking and being accountable to ourself.

I have been procrastinating on my marketing plan some lately because some of the task are boring. Like mailing postcards, posting to my Act! program, etc.

I think I will make a list of everyday marketing task that have been ignored of late and work on learning to like them based on results and tracking.

This was good info, Thanks.

Great stuff Jeff... this is powerful if deployed in the right way....

As I was reading... I was thinking about the Insurance salesman only wanting to contact those that wanted to be contacted. Well, there's a lot of competition for those sales because all the sales people flock to those potential buyers. Meanwhile, those that don't want to have the conversation are alone and not being serviced even though the need and value prop are exactly the same for this crowd. In this example you'd have an entire market all to your own.

In another way, it's like the examples illustrated in Money Ball - one of my favorite books - look for value where others aren't and you'll have the chance to capitalize on this activity or characteristic at a lower cost of entry.

The ideals are not equal but there are enough parallels to help enable us to devise a path to success.

I hope to carve out some reflection time to see how I might incorporate some of these principles in my own life.

Thanks for sharing!!

Sweet post! I hate cold calling but I know I'll be a better employee if I stop freaking out about it. It's not like I have to do it at all, but on the rare time that it comes up I seem to get very nervous.

I'm working on it!

What a wonderful list! Taking risks definately is frightening but well worth it. At the beginning of this year, I was determined to divest myself from a part of my business that not only was not profitable but also was an energy vampire. Over the past month, I cut the last tether to my booking business and now am a full time publicist and PR gal. From thinking about doing it to doing it was really nail biting. But now I feel SO much better. I also agree that to do what one loves, to live within a passionate and profitable business one MUST live within a budget. Don't buy the Earth Ticket!
Thanks for the insightful thoughts

Actually this brings up a great point for me too.

For years I have taken jobs and the moment i didn't like something I started to be all pissed off and not performing well and I kept jumping from one job to another and pretty much finding the same reality.

Finally just recently I realized what I was doing and I am turning my so called hate for the job into something good where I can excel at the work i do while at the same time building my track record and seeking other jobs.

Read tom´s latest article - #8 That’s embarrassing:”sorry, your card was declined”
