A smile is the absolute cheapest and most frugal way to feel good and to spread that good feeling.

Whilst I don't begrudge you highlighting the Thais, people of many of the Asian countries smile very freely.

@John: I've heard that smiles are more powerful internally than what most people think. I appreciate you sharing this info!

@Flora: You certainly can "hear" a smile over the phone. Smiles lower people's defenses and convey friendliness. Every business should make them mandatory! :)

@Marc: A sweet smile from the right person certainly will make your day!

Thanks for your comments!

One of the most amazing things about a smile is that you can hear it when you're speaking to someone on the phone. I always advise business clients to smile when answering the phone or speaking to their customers and potential customers.
A smile is a powerful business tool, and it's completely free.

Maybe about 20 years ago, as part of my training in Chi Gung, I took a live-in workshop with two Taoist masters. We began each session with a basic technique called "The Inner Smile." Mantak Chia (another Taoist master) named it that in his Taoist Yoga Chi Gung training methods.

Anyway, I learned just how powerful a smile can be. For instance, when you smile, nerves at the corners of your eyes stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and well-being. A deep smile in this technique is absorbed into the body, into all the organs. It promotes good health and sets the stage for proper attitude.

There is more to a smile than meets the eye :-)
